1996
John was awarded a $500 grant from the Purchase College Affiliates to facilitate and perform at a benefit concert of his creation to raise money for aids prevention on the Purchase College campus. The concert was to take place at the Purchase College Performing Arts Center. The profits would create an on going stipend fund made available to future grant award recipients for concerts or events that would benefit special programs like aids related services for the Purchase College community and would allow art and music students to gain real world experience during their college studies. John worked directly with: Steve Grober now owner of Steve Grober events at www.stevegrober.com. In 1996 Steve was the events coordinator at the Purchase Performing Arts Center. John also worked directly with the health director of Westchester County; the advertising manager at CD 101.9 (NYC radio station) and the director of ARC (Aids Related Services of Westchester County) to get the project off the ground. The concert was unable to take place due to a lack of seed money to pay various recording artists for their performance but the experience John gained was
invaluable.
